Pune's Living Legacy

Preserving the Sacred Rhythms

For decades, Aawartan has guarded the raw acoustic power of traditional Maharashtrian percussion. We play not for modern fusion, but to honor the pure Ganeshotsav spirit.

Our Journey

A Legacy in Saffron Dust

Born on the historic streets of Pune, Aawartan began as a small circle of passionate drummers. Today, we stand as a symbol of cultural preservation and rhythmic discipline.

The First Strike

2012

A handful of local youth gathered under the shade of a temple porch, determined to revive the uncommercialized beats of traditional Ganeshotsav processions.

The Saffron Standard

2018

Our troupe expanded to include over two hundred dedicated players across Dhol, Tasha, and Dhwaj departments, establishing our reputation for absolute synchronization.

Guarding the Heritage

Present

With every annual Ganeshotsav, we lead Pune's historic processions, carrying forward a thunderous prayer of strength written in sweat and sacred rhythms.

Our Sacred Creed

Every strike of the drum is a prayer of strength and a tribute to our ancestors.

We do not compromise. We do not play for corporate applause. We train in absolute silence so that our public performance shakes the very earth of Maharashtra.

The Three Pillars

Commanding the Thunderous Circle

Our pathak is organized into three disciplined wings, each led by experienced veterans who enforce rigorous rhythmic timing and synchronization.

The Tasha Command

The Dhwaj Bearers

The deep, resonant heartbeat of our troupe. Led by senior drummers who teach endurance, heavy striking techniques, and physical discipline.

The high-pitched, driving force of the procession. Our Tasha masters train players for lightning-fast wrist work and razor-sharp timing.

The towering saffron flags that lead our charge. Led by commanders who train flag-bearers in strength, balance, and synchronized sweeps.
